Welcome to the iSOFT User Group (Primary Care) website!
iSUG is here to provide mutual support for all its members. Membership is by practice rather than as individuals: if your practice is a member then everyone in the practice is entitled to all the benefits of iSUG membership, whatever their job title or role. If your practice isn’t a member then please join — it’s only £75 a year for the whole practice. (Click here to join). For that single yearly sum, everyone in the practice gets a preferential rate for our Annual Conference (though this year we are offering the opportunity of a membership discount instead), access to all the information, programs, advice and downloadables on the website, and membership of all our listservers. Indeed, listserver membership probably gives the most immediate benefit to iSUG members: a user will often post a problem on the listserver and get detailed assistance within minutes from another member.
iSUG also has an important role representing the interests of the users to the company, which we do very robustly. The user group committee has an excellent working relationship with iSOFT, with genuine respect on both sides. In addition, the iSUG committee nominates a small number of users to membership of the IDC (the Independent Development Committee) which helps to guide iSOFT over future development of its software.
In addition, and with the unanimous and enthusiast agreement of the iSUG committee, I also work as External Medical Consultant to iSOFT for one day a week. Both the company and the User Group are happy for me to carry this dual role: it means that I can represent the users’ point of view immediately and robustly to iSOFT, whatever matter is being planned or discussed, and to trouble-shoot. (And I use it: I don’t have the nickname of ‘The smiling Exocet’ for nothing!)
Primary care iSOFT users have always had a reputation for dedication, intelligence and intensive use of their medical software, and iSUG is here to help spread knowledge about how best to utilise iSOFT’s programs to their maximum. On the other hand, don’t be put off if you are a newcomer to the world of iSOFT programs — or, for that matter, a newcomer to computing — because we are all here to help, and none of us knows everything. So whatever your needs and abilities, we hope you will find the support you want as an iSUG member, obtain extra help when you need it… and also gain some excellent on-line friends, who are good for having a laugh together as well!
