SWAN

SWAN is the membership management system. It controls access to the mailing lists and eTorus

NB - from 1st February 2010 the lists are changing over to Google Groups. See below for information on individual lists

SWAN access is enabled for a Practice. Your practice may well have an administrator who can give you access. If not, maybe you would like to be the administrator for your practice? Send an email to the SWAN manager to set this up.

If you are chasing a SWAN membership application e-mail the managers directly, but please remember we are volunteers, and very busy ones at that!

Remember you can control your access to eTorus and your email address by logging in to SWAN.

HOW THE LISTS WORK

To send a message to the discussion lists please send a normal e-mail to the address given below. The mail is then forwarded to all subscribers.  PLEASE DO NOT USE HTML MAIL - AS HTML MAIL CAN CARRY VIRUSES AND OTHER MALICIOUS CODE.

SWAN lists are not available in digest form - Google Groups lists are . We suggest that you create different mail folders for each group and use Inbox assistants (such as in Microsoft Outlook) to move mail to the relevant folder. Click here for help on this. You will then be able to distinguish between mail sent to you personally and mail from the discussion list.

The SWAN lists have an archive hosted by Google. Click here to see it. You may be asked to join up, but this is free. Each Google group has its own archive

THE LIST RULES & ADVICE
  • On NO ACCOUNT should you use HTML mail format when posting to a list
  • When emailing these lists please limit yourself to emailing one list at a time. Everybody should subscribe to at least one product list and the general discussion list. Therefore people should get your message if it applies to them!
  • The general discussion group is intended for anything that isn't specifically related to the Clinical System.
  • SWAN contains an announcement facility that we will use to send urgent administrative messages to everyone, whether subscribed to a mailing list or not.
  • Please don't cross post to these groups and other internet groups or other lists.
  • Please do not request "Read Receipts"
  • Please disable "Out of Office Assistants" and other auto-responders.
  • You may use the word "TECHNICAL" in the subject line for technical posts. You may use the word "WISHLIST" in the subject line for items that you wish to appear on the product wishlist. These words will help you distinguish what the contents of the post might be.
  • There is no need to put the product name in the subject line - as an example in the Synergy group you could use a subject of "Screen Display" rather than "Synergy". All posts in the Synergy group will be about Synergy!
  • Please don't attach large files. There is a files area on iSUG.co.uk where you can upload larger items for others to download
  • Bear in mind that although these groups are restricted by membership, you should act as if they are public groups.
