SWAN

SWAN is the membership management system. It controls access to the mailing lists and eTorus

SWAN access is enabled for a Practice. Your practice may well have an administrator who can give you access. If not, maybe you would like to be the administrator for your practice? Send an email to the SWAN manager to set this up.

If you are chasing a SWAN membership application e-mail the managers directly, but please remember we are volunteers, and very busy ones at that!

Remember you can control which lists you receive, your access to eTorus and your email address by logging in to SWAN.

Fill in the form below, and your request will be forwarded to a SWAN manager for approval.

The practice code you need is your national practice code - often found in your email address eg fred.bloggs@GP-A12345.nhs.uk. The code you need is the A12345

If you don't find your code in the list please select "Other" and then enter your code. If any other information would help please put it in the Details entry box.

If you don't have a code that fits here then please ask what to do by clicking here. On no account should you guess!

PLEASE NOTE - you should make sure your practice code is correct or your registration may be rejected.

When you get your confirmation email with your password click the link on the left for SWAN Login

HOW THE LISTS WORK

To send a message to the discussion lists please send a normal e-mail to the address given below. The mail is then forwarded to all subscribers.  PLEASE DO NOT USE HTML MAIL - AS HTML MAIL CAN CARRY VIRUSES AND OTHER MALICIOUS CODE.

These lists are not available in digest form. We suggest that you create different mail folders for each group and use Inbox assistants (such as in Microsoft Outlook) to move mail to the relevant folder. Click here for help on this. You will then be able to distinguish between mail sent to you personally and mail from the discussion list. You will also have a historical reference available for browsing. iSUG do not currently maintain a library of all posts.

THE LIST RULES & ADVICE
  • On NO ACCOUNT should you use HTML mail format when posting to a list
  • When emailing these lists please limit yourself to emailing one list at a time. Everybody subscribes to a product list and the general discussion list. Therefore people should get your message if it applies to them!
  • The general discussion group is intended for discussion on subjects such as
iSOFT support, Read codes,  paperless practices, NSFs, PCG/Ts, PC purchasing, prescribing systems, iSUG Annual conference etc. In fact anything that isn't specifically related to the Clinical System.
  • SWAN contains an announcement facility that we will use to send urgent administrative messages to everyone, whether subscribed to a mailing list or not.
  • Please don't cross post to these groups and other internet groups or other lists.
  • Please do not request "Read Receipts"
  • Please disable "Out of Office Assistants" and other auto-responders.
  • You may use the word "TECHNICAL" in the subject line for technical posts. You may use the word "WISHLIST" in the subject line for items that you wish to appear on the product wishlist. These words will help you distinguish what the contents of the post might be.
  • There is no need to put the product name in the subject line - as an example in the System 6000 group you could use a subject of "Screen Display" rather than "System 6000". All posts in the System 6000 group will be about system 6000 !
  • Please don't attach large files. Large files may be emailed to the Listmaster  who will, after consideration, add the file(s) to the iSUG web pages for voluntary download by subscribers.
  • Bear in mind that although these groups are restricted by membership, you should act as if they are public groups.
