S6000 Word Processing Templates

Further information regards designing templates with S6word see faxback documents and with S6merge (Word doc 114kb)

S6 templates enable parts of the patientrecord to be extracted to a word-processing document. The easiest way to produce a word processing template is to use the word template file S6merge.dot. There will be a copy of this file in the S:\meddata\s6000\reports\formats\docs directory. This needs to be installed into the templates directory of your Word installation and will then cope with saving the file to the correct place as well as enabling you to create a document which will extract information from the patients notes. Once the template is saved it will be available from the word processing tab of a note. To make it appear under the referral tab you need to enter referral in the keywords section under properties summary and resave the file. The last I heard there were problems with Word 2000 but these may have been resolved. If you do have problems the template files (tpl) are rich text format files (the format produced by Word 97 or earlier) and the information to be extracted from the notes is specified by double underlined entries of a special syntax. System 6000 at present cannot cope with these entries being made in tables so formatting must be done using columns or tabs.

Syntax

[Notes Section name] format|Default

Possible Notes Sections

  • Summary - prints all entries in summary
  • Currproblem - prints the problem under which the word-processing note is added
  • Current - prints a list of current problems
  • Dormant - prints a list of Dormant problems
  • Putting + after Dormant or Current gives all the notes below the problems.
  • Default = what happens if there are no entries.

Formatting

  • /t = tab
  • /n = new line
  • // = slash character
  • /S = start date
  • /N = numeric
  • /E = end date
  • /D = dose
  • /M = Note Text
  • /P = priority
  • /F = free text
  • /U = due date
  • /R = read code
  • /V = severity

As an example the line below prints the Summary items note text, start date and free text all indented by one tab stop and each on a new line. If there are no summary items the word None will be printed.

[SUMMARY:/t/S_/M /F/n|default:None]
