Synergy is iSoft’s main primary care system. The latest version is 1.9.27.4.
It is accredited as a Level 2 Connecting for Health (CfH) system and available to any practice in England under GP System of Choice (GPSoC). It is also available in Wales and Northern Ireland.
In addition to the core functionality needed to support patient care and management in general practice, it incorporates various CfH modules:
The timetable for future releases is updated monthly on the GPSoC website. Updates to include Patient Demographic Service update (PDS2) and GP2GP service are in testing and expected to be generally available later this year.
EPS2 is expected to be delivered next year, 2012.
A centrally-hosted version of Synergy is currently in use in two practices with more practices scheduled to migrate from their local network Synergy to the Hosted Synergy pilot during this year.
Synergy represents far and away the best implementation of the Problem Orientated Medical Record, which is why users love it so much. However, some users may come under pressure from their PCT or consortium to change to a different system.
If you feel under pressure from your PCT or consortium to change clinical system, further information and advice about your rights to choose your system can be found at
